Biography

Catherine Brooks has build a body of work unrestriced by medium or scale, though always within the context of her own personal mythology. Using a vocabulary that spans from revelavant media imagery to the clasiscal symbolism of the late 18th centery, she layers her work with esoterica fables often thick with psychological meddlings.  Based around legends both lived and heard, her works are allusive menageries of natural diplomacy. They are artifacts of her dreams and adventures, an often sensual symbiosis with hints of more great tales and legends to come.

Brooks has a BFA in Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute of Art and Design in Brooklyn, NY and completed a residency at Campus Hanoi in Vietnam. She has shown regularly in galleries over the past six years. Highlights of her resume include participating in The Kokeshi Show at the Japanese American National Museum in LA, Solo shows at The Proposition Gallery in NYC, Thinkspace Gallery in LA, Ghostprint Gallery in RVA. Her work as been sold at Aqua Miami, Scope: London,Miami, New York and Basel Art Fairs.
She is lucky enough to be part of a sculptural collaborative  partnership called Isobel Milena with her best friend  and muse Tamara Cervenka.
